Multiply evangelism through Alpha by moving strategic churches along the journey.

Alpha Australia exists to serve the Church in its mission to help people discover and develop a relationship with Jesus. Through tools like the Alpha course, we equip and inspire churches of all denominations to create spaces where conversations about life, faith, and meaning can flourish. We have a bold vision to see everyone in Australia given the opportunity to discover a relationship with Jesus through Alpha.

Central to our 2033 strategy is the development of Hub Churches – churches that model best-practice Alpha and coach other churches to do the same. We are appointing a Hub Church Development Lead to build this movement: establishing a Hub Church in every capital city and strategic regional cities, across every major denomination – toward 80 Hub Churches nationally by 2033. This role exists to multiply evangelism through Alpha by moving strategic churches along the journey from engaged, to example, to Hub, where Alpha supports, and churches lead.

Key Responsibilities

Ministry responsibilities include leadership and contribution across the following areas:

  • Relational partnership & coaching — build deep, trusted relationships with senior leaders of strategic churches; coach and journey with churches from significant use toward example and Hub status, honouring their rhythms, denominations and contexts.
  • Pipeline development — develop example Alpha churches (50–100 nationally) with the capacity and hunger to extend, using relational insight and data, and ensuring a diverse mix of denominations, cities, regions, church plants and multicultural contexts.
  • Strategic convening & follow-up — convene and leverage catalytic events — masterclasses, cohorts, leadership tours and learning communities — and own the follow-up process: segmenting churches by readiness, executing tailored next-step pathways with the Church Engagement team, and tracking progress in Salesforce.
  • Hub establishment & multiplication — work with the Alpha executive and engagement teams to establish the criteria and standard for Hub churches; equip Hub leaders through events and coaching with a goal to train-the-trainer, turning best-practice churches into movement catalysts
  • Strategy & measurement — establish the Hub Church development plan and its targets; measure what matters, report on progress, and refine the strategy alongside the National Church Engagement Lead and executive team.
About You

You are a relational, strategic leader who is credible in the room with senior pastors across denominations. You build trust quickly, coach with wisdom and humility, and are energised by helping other leaders and churches flourish, content for them to lead while you support. You hold a long, patient view of multiplication: slow is fast, and values matter more than methodology.

You have a strong alignment with Alpha’s mission, vision and values, significant experience running best-practice Alpha, and an understanding of how it operates across church contexts. You are organised and outcomes-driven – able to design convening moments, run disciplined follow-up, and use data and digital tools (including Salesforce) to move churches decisively along the journey. You are willing to travel nationally to serve churches in every capital city and key regional centres.
